On Dec. 27, the University of California Police Department (UCPD) arrested Keiana Marie Porter, 23, of Moreno Valley on “suspicion of robbery, burglary, unauthorized use of a credit card and forgery,” and booked her into the Robert Presley Detention Center. She is accused of stealing a “college-aged” woman’s backpack during an altercation near the UCR Barn on Nov. 13.

“Not long after the robbery, the victim’s stolen credit cards were used at numerous businesses in the city of Fontana,” Jason Day, UCPD Division Commander of the Investigations Bureau, said in an email interview. “After serving numerous search warrants and obtaining video surveillance (UCPD) identified the suspect.”

Day said the detectives followed up on leads already present in the investigation, but he was unable to comment any further because the Riverside District Attorney’s office is still making a formal ruling on the case prior to further prosecution.

“(The) case really came down to hard work on the part of the detectives and officers who were assigned to the incident,” Day noted. “Thankfully, the arrest went smoothly.”
