UCR’s men’s golf kicked off the Farms Invitational at the University of San Diego on Monday, Feb. 11 and played through Tuesday. The Highlanders played their best golf of the tournament in the final round of play and finished in seventh place.

In the first round, the team shot a combined 308 score. This score had Riverside tied for sixth place. In the second round, the team shot a combined 317, which tied for the highest score in the round. After the second round, the Highlanders moved down two spots to eighth place. They then saved their lowest score for the final round, shooting a combined 296 which placed the team in the seventh spot to finish the tournament.

In that final round of play, senior Michael Wong led the team with five birdies. Senior Andrew Spillman, sophomore Sam He and sophomore Bahram Talle all finished the round with four birdies each.

The Highlanders will next hit the course Feb. 22 for the Desert Intercollegiate.
