UCR’s women’s golf team hosted 14 other teams including Cal Baptist University and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at their annual Battle at the Rock tournament. The tournament took place from Monday, Feb. 11-12. The Highlanders were as high in the leaderboard as second place before dropping to ninth at the end of tournament play.

The teams were forced to play two hours later than expected on Monday due to the weather, so teams finished their second round on Tuesday morning and then had to play the final round later that same day. The Highlanders finished the first round tied for sixth with a combined 298 score. Riverside finished with the sixth best score in round two with a combined score of 300. In the final round, UCR played their worst golf of the tournament and shot the fourth-worst score of the round with a combined 302 score.

Senior Jakeishya Le finished tied for 18th place after finishing just six over par and with a combined score of 222. Fellow senior Hana Furuichi finished tied for 39th place and was 11 strokes over par.

The winner of the tournament was Grand Canyon University who the Highlanders will be visiting next for the Grand Canyon Invitational which takes place Feb. 23-24.
