On Sunday, July 5, 2026, Police responded to the parking lot of Riverside Poly High School after receiving reports of a disturbance involving firearms and a vehicle collision. Upon arriving around 5:05 a.m., officers found evidence of a shooting and a traffic collision involving two vehicles. One victim was found suffering from critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not been released.
Detectives assigned to the Riverside Police Department Robbery-Homicide and Gang units have assumed the investigation, which is currently ongoing. The collision occurred outside of school hours and no students or school staff were involved.
Detectives are requesting that residents in the surrounding area check any home surveillance orsecurity camera footage that may have captured suspicious activity related to this incident.
