On Wednesday, June 14, the Highlander learned that James Grant Jr., assistant vice chancellor for UC Riverside’s Office of Strategic Communications, resigned from his post.

Grant arrived at UCR in 2010 after working for the University of Southern California’s media relations program from 2005-2010. In the Office of Strategic Communications, Grant oversaw UCR’s marketing, web presence, media relations, campus publications and video production.

Grant began working for university communications departments first at New York University’s School of Business. He proceeded to work at Thunderbird Graduate School in Glendale, Arizona from 1995-2000, UC Merced from 2000-2003 and Loyola Marymount University from 2003-2005 in media relations and communication management.

The reason for Grant’s resignation is currently unknown. Office of Strategic Communications Director of Media Relations John Warren, who worked alongside Grant, stated via email, “James Grant’s status is that he is on leave from the university.”
