This past Veterans Day, UCR’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) launched their official website for student veterans. The VRC is a UCR service center meant to provide veteran and military-affiliated students with a support system, community resources and networking opportunities.

In an interview with The Highlander, Veteran Services Coordinator Tami Thacker said that the website is important because it is the first time that all of the VRC’s information is online. She stated, “When a student veteran is looking for admissions information, they can find it there, if they’re looking for benefit or financial information, they can find it there, if they want to know how current student veterans feel about attending UCR, they can find it there.”

Thacker stated that the website symbolizes the support that UCR is providing the VRC, as it gives them a space to introduce themselves to new and potential students.

Thacker said, “I think the website is organized and friendly and we can only hope that this initial experience with UCR is enough for them to look at us as a whole.” Currently, the UCR community has over 300 military-affiliated students.
