On April 29, 2026, the Associated Students of the University of California, Riverside (ASUCR) meeting began at 7:11 p.m. and adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

During public forum, Elections Director Diya Baskaran announced that 2,479 votes — 11.23% of the undergraduate student body — were cast for the 2026-27 ASUCR elections as of 3:48 p.m. on April 29. She noted the Elections Committee has been getting students to vote at the voting tables from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday, providing incentives for those who vote.

Teri Eckman, Executive Director for Student Information Systems and Alexandra Chrystal, Communications and Training Manager provided an address regarding the Slate for Student Success advising platform. They sought to address concerns about the advising system and seek feedback, encouraging individuals to attend a focus group at the Highlander Union Building (HUB) on May 14 at 12 p.m. to provide further insight on the matter, with Eckman mentioning that “feedback is a gift.”

Eckman and Chrystal further presented a prototypal platform meant to gather student data for insight on how their advising system can be improved.

Vice President (VP) of Sustainability Anahita Hooshyari far shared her personal experiences and prior struggles with using Slate, as well as inquired about the prototypal data collection process.

Associate Justice Nathan Johnson also asked about who would be collecting this data and whether parties such as UCR Student Conduct & Academic Integrity Programs would have access to it, suggesting this could allow parties to bypass the due process in terms of accessing protected student data.

During committee reports, three Senate bills updating ASUCR bylaws were presented and unanimously passed, including SB-S26-005 through SB-S26-007. Additionally, SR-S26-003, a Senate resolution in support of the Opportunity for All Act — which addressed concerns about students’ rights to work regardless of documentation status — was presented by Undocumented Student Representative Aimme Diaz Carbajal and passed by the Senate 12-0-1.

Three Green Campus Action Plan (GCAP) grant requests were approved unanimously by the Senate 13-0-0, including $800 to cover dining expenses for an end-of-year ScottyEats banquet, $250 for a student’s Create R’Lab project and $8,000 for composing bins to be placed in the Plaza and Oban campus apartment communities.

Meeting minutes for Finance Budget Hearing #18 were also approved unanimously, with CHASS Senator Emmy Tsao reminding individuals that the club budget request form for the 2026-27 academic year is due May 4.
