The spookiest time of year has rolled back around once again. It’s time to bring out the Snickers, Sour Patch Kids and Twix for a late night snack. However, Halloween filled with trunk-or-treats and door-to-door knocking starts to look a little different as we get older. I mean, imagine you see a 20-year-old walk up to your door step asking for candy right after a five-year-old and their family. There’s nothing wrong with trick-or-treating, but thinking that you’ve grown out of it? Here are some fun ways you can spend your Halloween this year without trick-or-treating.

Throw a get together with friends and dress up with a theme

All it takes to celebrate is a few friends and some laughs. To make it a part of the Halloween vibes, have everyone dress according to a theme or let them choose their own costumes so they can finally wear that outfit they’ve been plotting for weeks. It’s super affordable to get some small decorations from a Dollar Tree and transform your house from a cozy spot to a horrifying hangout.

Pass out Halloween candy

If you want something a bit calmer, you can always pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters. It’s a great way to stock up on your own candy supply while also having some fun and wholesome interactions throughout the night. Plus, it’s exciting to see the different costumes and trends that are coming around each year.

Watch scary movies

There are so many good scary movies to date and more and more continue to come out each year. If you’re more into a cozy night in, you can put on a scary movie marathon with loads of popcorn and fun Halloween-themed food for maximum comfort and vibes. You could make a candy bowl filled with your favorite sweets or even do fun activities at the same time like carving pumpkins or baking some spooktacular cookies.

Go into a haunted house!

Halloween is one of the few times of the year when you can pay to get the bejeezus scared out of you. Haunted houses are short, fun and perfect to do with friends. Not only that, but there’s something funny about everyone coming together to scream as zombies, witches and vampires chase you around every corner.

However you spend your Halloween, let’s make sure it’s fun, safe and memorable. Let’s make Halloween 2026 one to remember, Highlanders!
