On Sunday, May 24, a driver intentionally drove into a crowd of bystanders outside a Riverside house party on 3500 block of Franklin avenue, killing one and leaving three severely injured. The incident took place following an altercation between the driver and two other individuals.
At the party, three people got into an argument which continued outside. After two of the individuals involved left the scene, they were then pursued by the third individual who got into their car and ran into four pedestrians, police stated.
Officers arrived on the scene around 12:39 a.m. after receiving numerous calls regarding the fight. One victim was pronounced dead on the scene, and the other three were immediately taken to an intensive care unit.
Police detained and interviewed several people and one was arrested on suspicion of murder. None of the people struck were involved in the fight and their relationship to those involved, if any, is unknown.
