Highlanders 102 – Firebirds 49
The UC Riverside men’s basketball team slaughtered St. Katherine university, 102-49, on a windy afternoon at the Student Recreation Center Arena. Jaylen Bland, who knocked down five three-pointers, tallied a game-high 20 points.
The Firebirds jumped out to an early 11-4 lead behind a trio of three-pointers before UCR recaptured the advantage at 15-13.
UCR never trailed in the game again. Every shot was clicking while Saint Katherine’s shooting percentage dropped rapidly.
A jump shot made by Kristopher Acevedo pushed the home team over 100 points for the game as UCR defeated the Firebirds, 102-49.
The Highlanders (2-2) next travel to Los Angeles to face off against Loyola Marymount University on Nov. 26.
