sports_womenstennisIt’s a week of celebration for the UCR women’s tennis team as this past Saturday they took on Biola with a sweeping victory of 7-0. The Highlanders haven’t achieved such a win since January of last year against Whittier with Chloe Pham leading on both occasions. This marks the second victory of the season for the team, a welcome change considering that the team suffered two crushing defeats in consecutive weeks.

Despite this, UCR took this week as an opportunity to improve upon past mistakes and took charge from beginning to end with each set. The women in the singles were dominant throughout each set as Biola only came as close as a four-set difference with each player. UCR’s Karlay Dulay and Tamila Vaksman both performed exceptionally as each of their opponents failed to obtain a single set, ending both matches at 6-0, 6-0.

The story continued in the doubles competition as Biola failed to capture a single win against the Highlanders. Most notably, Pham and Arabella Valera put on an excellent display of teamwork to secure yet another 6-0, 6-0 match.
